Course Description

This course provides the knowledge and skills to respond to hazardous materials incidents to protect persons, the environment, and property, including detecting the presence of hazardous substances and chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosives (CBRNE), consulting references for additional information, and implementing work practices that will minimize the possibility of contamination.

Learner Outcomes

  • Detect the presence of hazardous substances, including chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosives (CBRNE)
  • Consult references, including the Emergency Response Guide (ERG), shipping documents, and WHMIS forms, for additional information on dealing with a hazardous substance
  • Implement work practices to minimize the risk of contamination

Must be an active member of the Manitoba Fire Service
